George Harrison-The "not so quiet" Beatle

Next to John Lennon, I think George was my next favorite Beatle. He wasn't as vocal as John, but, I can definately identify with him. I've always been a loaner; usually went along with the crowd. This is not to say that George didn't follow a path of his own. As he grew up with his brothers,( Paul, John, & Ringo ) George was alot more spiritual than the other Beatles.( in my opinion of course ). He entwined his spirituality with what he learned from the Dali Lama in India. He incorporated Eastern music into some of the songs he wrote for some of the Beatles albums. He taught himself along with the teachings of Ravi Shankar how to play sitar; one of the things I feel made some of his songs very special to himself and to me. He put more emphisis into spiritual things over material things. I, along with many other people felt a great loss when he left us; I wish I could have had the honor of meeting George and talking with him about his life. I think I could have learned a few things from George that would have helped me to put my life into better perspective. I've found there isn't anything more crucial to put life into perspective than the death of someone meaningful. I'm hoping that when I do die that I get that chance to see all the people that played into some part of my life. Years ago, I lost 3 of my friends at very early ages; within the span of 1 month. Way before their time. That put many insignificant bullshit things in my life into a whole new perspective. I now have a wife, my soul mate & a 15 year old son both of which I would die for. They're what keeps my life in perspective now. I miss George Harrison and John Lennon very much. But I thank them for their music; it helped me through some very hard times.
